With both sides at the wrong end of the table the early talk at the ground was that this game was a definite six pointer
Town were missing Ryan Kostromin but Tyler Aylward returned to the squad with Nathanial Osborne replacing Filip Lisczyk in goals after injury.
The weather was not too bad at the start but the pitch was heavy following a week of rain. and right from the start both sides showed their attacking intent although not really creating anything to bother either keeper. It took 27 minutes for the first real chance and after good play by Rio Booth and Joshua Dorward the ball found its way to Artiom Legavec who made no mistake to give the home side the lead. Almost immediately from the kick off Pontardawe Town nearly extended that lead as Legavec found himself in the box but his shot hit the post
Town were left to regret that miss as Goytre United scored two quick goals although both may have been ruled out if VAR had been in place. The first was a clear offside missed by the official and the experienced Jordan Edwards scored. A minute later, after a tight call, it was the turn of Dafydd Owen who gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.
That lead lasted just 10 minutes as the unfortunate Paul Daniel put through his own net to make the scores level. With half time looming it was Town who looked like going into the break ahead as Rio Booth scored a smart goal only for Goytre to level at 3-3 with the last kick off the game as once again Jordan Edwards was in the right place
A first half full of incident which neither manager would be happy with
Town nearly got a 4th just minutes into the second half as a corner bobbled in the box for what seemed like ages only for the visitors to somehow clear from their own line. It was Town who were the better side at this stage of the game but despite having more of the ball they just couldn't convert that posession into a goal. Then came the sucker punch with just 11 minutes to go as Goytre United, with their first chance of the second half, scored through Keane Watts who was left unmarked in the areaand gave Osborne no chance
The rain was torrential by this stage of the game and Town's heads were down but on 83 minutes up stepped Joe Lloyd with the goal of the game as he picked up the ball on the right and he put away a belter of a goal to level the scores yet again. Town pushed for the winner but the game ended with the points shared
Credit to both teams and the officials for the game which was played in increasingly difficult conditions and good luck to Lyndon and the Goytre United team for the rest of the season
